I lost my job in london UK :( I got a weeks pay. I started the job on understanding that i’d be a full time permanent employee, after 2 months I asked why they had not put me on the payroll ( they had payed me checks) and i was told I would have to be a self employed subcontractor: No job rights, no way to qualify for insurance, no severance pay etc…I was not pleased.

Yep, it’s really an Employer’s market and co-incidently, the sale of vaseline and other fine lubricants dropped off dramatically too. Learn the lesson. Someday work for yourself. Be your own boss. Cubes, Cattle Ranch and Chicken Farms- same thing.
